YOUTH WRESTLING: Miller, Carpenter pin down strong finishes at state championships

Josh Miller and Travis Carpenter recently competed in the California USA High School Folkstyle State Championships in Fresno where both earned top-six finishes.

Miller, a Bear River freshmen competing in the 113-pound weight class, placed sixth overall in the frosh-soph category after notching a 7-3 record in the 43-wrestler bracket.

Carpenter, a Bear River junior wrestling in the 182-pound weight class, placed fourth overall in the junior-senior category.



The purpose of California USA Wrestling events is to provide opportunities for wrestlers of all styles to compete against the best competition, at the regional, national, and international levels.

California USA Wrestling offers events in women’s and men’s freestyle, greco-roman, folkstyle, grappling and beach, according to the organization’s website http://www.ca-usaw.org.
