YOUTH WRESTLING: Goldmine grapplers have strong showing at Sacramento Area Wrestling Association Championships

The Goldmine Wrestling Club flexed its grappling prowess last weekend at the Sacramento Area Wrestling Association Championships, earning several individual medals and a team trophy.

Competing at Vista del Lago High School, the Goldmine Bantam/Intermediate squad (8-years and younger) claimed the second place trophy as a team.

Individually, Owen Hooper was dominant with three gold medals, placing first in freestyle, greco roman and folkstyle wrestling. Cody Wasson earned a silver medal in folkstyle and bronze in the freestyle competition. Colton Wasson took home a silver medal in freestyle, a bronze in folkstyle and a bronze in greco roman. Corbet Wasson struck gold in folkstyle and earned silver medlas in both freestyle and greco roman. Jai Guerra earned silver in greco roman. And, Uriah Painter took home bronze in freestyle.



Goldmine’s girls wrestlers also impressed with Amara Sharp grabbing gold in greco roman and a bronze in folkstyle. Hannah Nelson earned silver medals in freestyle, folkstyle and Greco Roman. And, Arleth Sosa claimed silver medals in both freestyle and folkstyle.
