Youth Sports Report: Yuba City burned by Wildfire

The Nevada County Wildfire 12-and-under girls fastpitch team battled to a 3-1 record last weekend at the Summertime Fun tournament in Yuba City.

The local squad opened up with a 5-1 victory over the host team. Cheyanne Ramos got the mound win and joined Britney Campbell and Grace Ramos with key hits.

The Wildfire then dropped a 13-8 decision to the Sting. Sydney Porter went 2-for-3 and Lacey Burr had an RBI double in the loss.

The Wildfire team finished up play by sweeping the NorCal Heat of Elk Grove 8-7 and 4-3. The first game had Melanie O’Brien leading the hitters going 2-for-2, including a walk-off home run, and picking up the mound win in relief of Sarah Lundmark. Shyanne Parrish also picked up a big hit.

In the second game, Julia Sears and Porter each had hits in the final tally scoring the tying and winning runs. Torri Parman, Dana Byers and O’Brien also had hits in the victory.
