The Gold Country Stampede varsity lacrosse team was without a doubt the best team in Northern California, going 17-0 and winning the NCJLA Championship.

As good as the Stampede is on the field, they are also solid in the classroom. Senior members of the Stampede team Gunnar Myers, Dannon Ivey and Mitchell Nickerson will all be taking their classroom abilities and lacrosse skills to the collegiate level. At a recent signing ceremony, Myers and Nickerson both agreed to attend and play lacrosse at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. Ivey will attend at play lacrosse at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisc.

Senior captain Peter McDowell said he too will attempt to play lacrosse at the next level, hoping to play at UC Davis where he set to attend in the fall.

The Stampede are not quite finished with the season as they have chosen to take part in the State Lacrosse Cup June 4-5. The State Lacrosse Cup is a two-day event in which the top-teo teams from Northern California and the top-two teams from Southern California battle it out for the state championship.
