Volley Lamas net NCASA volleyball title

The Nevada County Adult Sports Association concluded its summer volleyball league Wednesday with the No. 1 seed Volley Lamas taking home the title.

Volley Lamas took down No. 3 seed Net Assets in three sets in the championship match, 13-21, 21-12, 22-20.

Volley Lamas is comprised of Hayden Fleenor, Alexis Moser, Sam Hochwald, Pat McTighe and Gretchen McTighe. On the season, Volley Lamas finished 11-1. The NCASA Summer League basketball championships get started Thursday at 7 p.m. with the B1 League title game.

Registration for the NCASA fall leagues are currently open for volleyball, basketball and flag football. For more information on the upcoming leagues or to register, contact Rich Ramirez at 530-575-9142 or by email at ncasarich@gmail.com.

Jr. Miners earn Shrine Bowl selections

Five Jr. Miner football players and four Jr. Miner cheerleaders have all been selected to participate in the Sacramento (SYF) Youth Shrine Bowl, which benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children.
