Two Bruin grapplers advance

Eight members of the Bear River wrestling team competed in the Small School Sub-Section this past weekend at Lindhurst High School and came out of the meet with two wrestlers qualifying for the Sac-Joaquin Section meet in Turlock this coming weekend.

Freshman Addy Gemignani (103) and sophomore Brady Lazalier (119) moved on after both wrestlers took sixth place in their weight classes.

“Addy and Brady both did really well in the brackets they were in,” Bear River coach Robert Nebeker said. “As young as those two are, to make it to sectionals – that’s special for them.”

Sub-Section Results:

103 Addy Gemignani, 3-2, sixth place, two pins

112 Matt Bevington, 0-2

119 Brady Lazalier, 3-2, sixth place, two pins

130 Johnny Lascoe, 1-2

152 Joe Sciacca, 0-2

171 Jeremy Newton, 0-2

215 Jordan Beaver, 1-2, one pin
