Travel teams looking for prospects

Gold Country Soccer League will host tryouts for its travel teams throughout the month of April.

Athletes between the ages of 8-18, as of July 31, seeking a higher level competition than recreational soccer are encouraged to come to the tryouts at Ready Springs School in Penn Valley.

Eight to 11 year olds will try out from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on April 9 and from 9- 11 a.m. on April 10; 12-13 year olds will meet from 9-11 a.m. April 9 and 12:30-2:30 p.m. April 10.



Prospective players between 14-15 will try out 9-11 a.m. April 16 and April 24 and from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on April 17 and April 23. Sixteen to 18-year-olds try out from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on April 16 and April 24 and from 9-11 a.m. on April 17 and April 23.

Opening day slated for PVLL

Penn Valley Little League has announced that April 9 will be Opening Day at Western Gateway Park.

The day-long celebration will include a morning parade, team photos and fund-raising events, along with a full slate of exhibition baseball games -at all levels of competition – scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m.
