TouchDown Productions inks 3-yr. deal for Optimist Game

For the first time in the modern, era the Optimist All-Star Prep Football Classic will be televised, and local sports staple TouchDown Productions will handle the responsibilities.

TouchDown Productions has reached a three-year deal to televise the Optimist All-Star Game, said Touchdown Productions executive producer Gil Dominguez.

“It’s never been televised before,” Dominguez said. “I am just happy it’s us.”

The 56th Optimist Game will be played at noon Saturday at Del Oro High School. The game will feature the Sac-Joaquin Section’s top football talent battling it out as the North All-Stars take on the South All-Stars.

The game will be aired that night at 8 p.m. on NCTV, Comcast Channel 11 and Suddenlink channel 16. The game will be immediately replayed after the first showing. DVDs of the game will be available at the contest and can be purchased at the TouchDown Productions truck. DVDs can also be purchased at

Dominguez said he hopes to do more feature stories about the long-standing football game in the future as it builds toward the 60th Optimist game.

Dominguez said TouchDown Productions will also be airing the Small Schools All-Star Game, which directly follows the Optimist Game and features Bear River co-head coaches Scott Savoie and Terry Logue along with several Bruin players. The Small Schools All-Star Game will air at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 26 on NCTV, Comcast Channel 11 and Sudden Link channel 16.
