Nevada County Country Club Captains Cup
The Nevada County Country Club Women’s Group winner of the 2004 Captains Cup is Lynn Hinrichs, with a net score of 213. Second place went to Karen Brown with 214, and finishing in third place was Kay Huse with a net 220.
The Captains Cup was played Apr 13, 15 & 20. It is a three-day, 54-hole tournament.
The Nevada County Country Club Women’s Group held its annual Memorial Tournament May 11 & 18. The tournament was established in honor of deceased members. This is a two-day, best-ball event, with the second day being eclectic. Winners of the 2004 tournament were:
Overall winners – Lynn Hinrichs and Donna Carter, net score 56. First place – Gloria Dalke and Connie Aguilar, net 57; Second place – Jo Menary and Sherrie Rankin, net 58; Third place – Lynn Martinsen & Ruth Patten, net 58.
Free lessons at Alta Sierra
PGA Professional Shawn Mason of Alta Sierra Country Club will offer free 10 minute lessons in conjunction with “PGA Free Lesson Month,” the national growth of the game campaign.
On Sunday, Mason will help golfers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members and non-members are encouraged to participate by calling Mason at ASCC (273-2010) or by just showing up Sunday.
In addition to the free golf lesson, those attending will be entered along with Mason into Nike Golf’s Grand Prize sweepstakes package, including a three-day golf getaway vacation, a playing spot in the next Mia Hamm Foundation Golf Classic, a custom-fit set of Nike Golf Clubs, Nike Golf footwear, apparel, bag, balls and more.
Sweepstake cards will be available from Mason Sunday.
Madden at recreation show
Steve Madden of PerformanceSportsGolf.com, who is serving as the physical trainer for The Union’s “Fit for the Fairways” feature, will be on hand at this weekend’s RV, Boat & Recreation Show at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.
Madden will have a swing station on site to allow those interested to see their swing on digital video.
Hole in one
Ruth Brewer, an Alta Sierra Country Club member, sank a hole in one on ASCC’s No. 12 on May 8.
Brewer was playing a match in ASCC’s Women’s Spring Handicap tournament, when she made the shot with a 5-iron. Brewer also went on to win the match.
