Teen chosen for camp

Grass Valley basketball player, Lindsey DeMatteis, is one of 100 seventh grade girls nationwide who have been selected to attend the National Adidas Junior Phenom Camp in San Diego this August.

DeMatteis attended the regional Adidas Junior Phenom Camp on March 3-4 in Sacramento, sponsored by Showtime Hoops of Chico, California.

The event was led by prominent experts, including Ruthie Bolton, two-time Olympic gold medal winner and WNBA superstar, along with Dave Hoopla, shooting coach of the NBA’s Toronto Raptors.

At the event, DeMatteis made the all-star team. She earned the invitation to the national Adidas Camp based on her performance at a regional event. The national event will be attended by top NCAA college coaches and scouts.

DeMatteis, 13 years old, attends Clear Creek School and is an honor roll student who plays point guard on the school basketball team and the AAU Cheetahs.

Showtime Hoops sponsors competitive basketball tournaments and the Showtime Academy for boys and girls seeking national exposure with NCAA and NAIA colleges and universities.
