Stellar Gymnastics Girls reach the podium at the Snowflake Invitational

Breeanna Jewell, level 4 (junior/senior division), scored an 8.50 to take second-place on the floor exercise on her way to third-place in the all-around last Saturday at the Snowflake Invitational in Oroville.

She secured third-place on the beam with a score of 8.50 and fourth-place on bars with an 8.20, leading to a combined score of 33.50 in the all-around.

Other solid performances by the Stellar girls gymnastics team in level 4 included Candace Marich, who placed third in bars with a score of 8.450; fourth on vault with an 8.650 and fourth-place al-around with a combined score of 32.550. Rachel Greenwood had a strong showing in the beam with a second-place finish and a score of 8.60 that helped her secure fifth in the all around with a combined 32.150 total. Jessica Lang contributed to the strong Stellar team performance by taking third on vault with a score of 8.70 and fourth on floor with a score of 8.10.



In her very first competition, Laine Ebert took fifth on vault and floor with scores of 8.50 and 8.050 respectively.

In the level 5 (all ages) division, first-time competitor Keliegh Casey took sixth-place on bars with a respectable 7.250 and placed seventh on vault with a 7.60.




In the level 4 (child division), Dalas Albano performed well on beam with a score of 8.550 to place fourth. She also had a score of 8.250 on floor, which provided her a fifth-place finish and ended the competition fifth in the all-around with a combined score of 33.450.

The Stellar Girls compete again this Sunday at the Golden State Classic in Orangevale.

Stellar Gymnastics boys take honors at Stanford Open

A group of Stellar Gymnastics boys Levels 4-10 captured honors competing against more than 50 teams during the three-day Stanford Open this past weekend in Palo Alto.

Steven Whittlesey led the team with his solid performance in the level 4 age 9-plus during the meet, which was held Friday through Sunday. Whittlesey put up a first-place score of 9.550 in rings, another first-place score of 9.000 in parallel bars and a third-place finish in floor exercise with a score of 9.000. His combined score of 54.200 placed fifth in the all-around.

Other strong performances in level 4 age 9-plus included Drake MacDonald with a score of 9.200 in vault, 9.000 in rings and an 8.900 in pommel horse, which tied him for fifth in that event. Tye Casto scored 8.800 in the vault. Level 4 age 6 standout Ben Hedenland scored an 8.950 in rings and a 9.000 in vault.

In level 5 competition, 8-year-old Charlie Patelzick secured a score of 8.700 in vault. Lucas Meadows, 8, vaulted to a score of 8.650.

In the level 5 7-year-old competition, Colton Wood scored a 9.400 in vault for fifth-place and scored 8.00 in rings. Aidan Arthur received a score of 9.150 in vault and an 8.500 in rings.

Other competitors from Stellar included Chase Osmond & Troy Gomes in level 8 and Seth Nix competing in level 10.

The boys team will compete in Norman, Okla., this coming weekend.
