Stellar athletes compete

Daniel Bright’s Class 2 All Around gold medal topped the list of highlights for the Stellar Gymnastics Academy in Chico last weekend.

Bright, 15, who’s been battling injuries all season, put together his best performance of the year to take the gold, according to SGA coach Jeff Jenkins.

SGA’s Class 6 boys, on a gold medal winning performances on the rings by Addy Gemighani, 10, and on the vault and parallel bars from Seth Nix, 10, and a Rusty Baily, 9, silver medal on the high bar, took fourth in the team competition.

Nix took the bronze medal overall.

Gemghani finished sixth overall. Baily, who finished fifth in the parallel bars, placed seventh overall. Chase Osmond posted fourth-place finishes in both the pommel horse and the high bar.

Tyler Salcedo, 10, took silver in the high bar and tied for silver in the vault and finished fourth overall to lead the SGA’s Class 6 boys to sixth place in the team competition.

Christian Grapel, 9, won silver in the vault and bronze in both the parallel and high bars to take fifth place overall. Trevor Painter posted fourth-place finishes in the vault and the high bar en route to a sixth-place finish.

Kyle Hoyt, 8, grabbed a fourth-place finish in the vault and took eight overall. Justin Nix, 7, won the vault and tied for bronze in the floor exercise.

For the 6-year-olds, Jake Berger finished ninth in the floor exercise and took 12th overall. Nolan Stefani won the gold in the vault.
