Sports shorts – Miners race at new course

The Nevada Union cross country team traveled to Folsom to compete in the Bella Vista Invitational on the new Willow Hill cross country course on Saturday.

The girls varsity finished in a tie for third place, with Shannon Lingo leading the team in seventh place over the 5K course in 20:17. Shannon Buckley took 18th in 21:01, Karly Powell 30th in 22:06, Lucie McKurdy 38th in 22:56, and Liberty Herring moved up from the JV to finish 46th in 23:19.

Christine Perkins (27:04), Maia Lipkin (27:59) and Lanna Lewis (32:30), also competed in the varsity race. Amanda Fry competed in the JV race.



The boys varsity finnished sixth out of 19 schools. Andrew Primrose led the way in seventh in 17:33, Parker Brown 43rd in 18:05, Barrett Vertrees 54th in 18:20, Dan Freitas 57th in 18:22, Cody Hood 63th in 18:30, Stephen Sarantopoulos 85th in 19:07, and Robin Carr 90 in 19:18.

Three freshman competed over a 3K course. Chris Greiner finished fifth in 10:44, Tyler Weldon 35th in 12:01, and Austin Schumacher 41st in 12:20. In the sophomore boys race Dan Roediger was 31st in 11:25, Charles Raub 32nd 11:25, J. Lamar Barnett III 39th in 11:43, Ross Brennen 59th in 12:25, and Gary Potter in 13:52.
