The second annual Bear River vs. Nevada Union Alumni Football Game is tentatively set for late August, but in the meantime, both teams are looking for players to line up for the local squads.

The event, which was held for the first time last December – and won by Bear River, 16-13, will serve as an annual fund-raising event for both high schools.

For more information on the game, or to register to play, please call Troy Spangler at (530) 470-0773 or (916) 806-7600.

Team Survivor Sierra set for fund raiser

Team Survivor Sierra will host a fund-raising dinner at The Owl Grill and Saloon, 134 Mill St., in Grass Valley from 5 p.m. to closing on July 27.

TSS is the local chapter of a national nonprofit organization that provides free physical activity, health education, and support programs for women affected by cancer.

Funds raised will be used to offset TSS’s phone and postage expenses for the year. The Owl Grill and Saloon will donate 10 percent of its sales that night.

For those unable to attend, donations may be mailed to Team Survivor Sierra, P.O. Box 1524, Nevada City CA 95959. Gift certificates purchased at The Owl that night will also be credited to Team Survivor Sierra.

Fore more information, please call Cathy Anderson-Meyers, 273-6876.
