Area girls basketball players can learn from a pro this weekend, as Tangela Smith of the Sacramento Monarchs will present a basketball camp in Rancho Cordova.

Smith was a candidate for the WNBA’s Most Improved Player in 200 and 2002. She was also the 1998 Big Ten Player of the Year.

Girls ages 6-17 may register for the camp, which will be held at Basketball Town, 11327 Folsom Blvd. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and is sponsored by Hoops-4-Kids.



Those interested may register online at http://www.hoops4kids.net or by calling toll free 1-877-962-2226. Cost is $150 and includes a WNBA basketball, a T-shirt, water bottle, autographs, individual evaluations and a ticket to the Monarchs 2003 season opener.
