Invitational set today

Six-hundred runners from 26 middle and high schools will compete at the Bear River Invitational today.

Competitors from some of the Sac-Joaquin Section1s top boys and girls squads will be challenged on a newly constructed course.

3What1s great about this course is the start, finish and every mile mark is located on the soccer field so spectators can runners over most of the course from the home bleachers,² Bruins head cross country coach Nick Vogt said.

Junior high girls 9 a.m.

Junior high boys 9:20 a.m.

Frosh/soph boys 9:45 a.m.

JV girls 10:10 a.m.

JV boys 10:a.m.

Varsity girls 11:05 a.m.

Varsity boys 11:35 a.m.


Brynne Edwards totaled a match-high 19 kills and Hayley Gowin chipped in 21 assists as the host Forest Lake Christian girls volleyball team beat Faith Christian of Yuba City 15-5, 15-7, 14-16, 15-4 Friday.

Leyna Allred finished with 10 kills. Melody Bayless tallied seven kills in the win.

FLC (7-6 overall, 5-1 Central Valley Christian League) will play at Sacramento Waldorf 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

bibby breaks FOOT friday

Sacramento Kings guard Mike Bibby was scheduled to have surgery on his right foot today for a fracture he sustained during practice Friday.

OOIn the short term, this is an unfortunate turn of events for Mike and our team, considering how well he has played during the first two weeks of training camp,11 Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie said in a statement Friday. He said the surgery would be a minor delay in Bibby1s season.

Bibby scored 10 points for the Kings in an exhibition game against the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.





? Giants/Cards play Game 3 in the NL Championship Playoff Series at PacBell Park at 1:20 p.m. on FOX (Channels 40 and 2). Game time Sunday is set for 4:40 p.m., also on FOX.

? Cal plays USC in a key West Coast college gridiron matchup today at 3:30 p.m. on FSN.


? The unbeaten Oakland Raiders travel to St. Louis to face the struggling Rams. The game will be televised at 1:15 p.m. on CBS.


? The San Francisco 49ers will be in Seattle Monday night to play the 1-3 Seahawks. The 6 p.m. game will be on ABC.
