Soccer tourney scheduled

Today and Sunday, the Gold Country Youth Soccer League, in partnership with the Nevada City Rotary Club, will host a youth soccer tournament in Grass Valley.

Forty teams from Northern California are expected to be competing, both boys and girls, ranging in age from under-14s to under-16s.

Each team will play two games on Saturday and one on Sunday morning to determine the top four teams in each age group. The top four teams will then compete Sunday afternoon to decide the winner.

It is expected that 1,400 to 1,500 players and parents will flock to Nevada County for the weekend.

Games will be played at Sierra College Rotary Soccer Fields, Lyman Gilmore School, Ready Springs School and Bear River High School.
