Seven Gilmore wrestlers place to finish season

Three Lyman Gilmore wrestlers placed third in their respective weight classes at the Tournament of Champions middle school state championships Saturday at Del Oro High School.

Jake Cena took third at 70 pounds, Zack Callas took third at 122, and Ian Taylor did likewise at 135 pounds in a tournament that included wrestlers from all parts of the state.

Some Lyman Gilmore wrestlers, too young to participate in TOCs, qualified instead for the Folkstyle state tournament at Natomas High School. Drew Hoskin won the title there at 60 pounds, Josh Cena was third at 65, Matt Manuel was fourth at 75, and Jordan Stillwaugh placed second at 90 pounds.
