Scott, Bruins roll out win

Nicole Scott came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points, and Briana Thomas had 11 rebounds as the host Bear River girls basketball team bombed Roseville, 66-28 Friday.

Bear River improved to 12-6 overall and 4-0 in the Sierra Foothill League.

The Lady Tigers (11-5 overall, 1-3 SFL) looked like as if they would make a game of it, taking an early 6-3 lead.

Bear River’s answer came from long range.

Christina Guerland and Amy Pistone drained a each drained a pair of first-quarter treys, and Cassie Smith added another from downtown as the hosts outscored Roseville 22-6 in the first eight minutes.

Guerland and Pistone finished with six points each. Smith chipped in 10 points.

“We shot really well in the first quarter. They tried to zone us; and we tell our kids if you see a zone, your eyes should light up, because you’re going to get to shoot. I guess we kind of took that to heart tonight,” Bear River head coach Duwaine Ganskie said.

Meaghan Noud, who was held to one point in the first half, hit a three-pointer, a field goal and a free throw to finish with seven.

Thomas and Chelsea Korell chipped in five points each.

Bear River will play on the road, visiting Rocklin Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
