Roenicke called up to the show

Former Nevada Union and UCLA Bruin standout baseball player Josh Roenicke has been called up to the bigs, according to a report on MLB.com.

Roenicke, a relief pitcher with the Louisville Bats, was one of seven Triple A players called up by the Cincinnati Reds.

“Now that Triple-A Louisville has been eliminated from the International League playoffs, seven of its players will join the Reds in time for Tuesday’s game,” the report states. “Shortstop Paul Janish, infielders Adam Rosales and Danny Richar, starting pitcher Adam Pettyjohn and relievers Jon Adkins, Danny Herrera and Josh Roenicke will be promoted.

“It’s mostly on the recommendations of our Minor League people for guys that have had good years,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said on Monday.
