Rising Starz Gymnasts shine

Justin Rickel won three individual events and earned first-place, all-around in his age group for the Rising Starz Gymnastics boys level 4 team this past weekend at the Wine Country Classic in Rohnert Park.

Rickel captured first place in the 10-and-over age group rings with a score of 9.1, the vault (9.6) and high bar (9.4) on his way to a first-place total of 53.35 in the all-around.

Kehan Wenger captured first-place in the 8-9 age group high bar with an impressive score of 9.4. Wenger also placed second on the pommel horse (8.6) and third in the all-around (53.3).

Ben Kaput placed third in the 10-and-over floor exercise (9.1) and fourth on vault (9.45).

In the 6-7 age group, Joey Cressa placed third on high bar (8.9) and fifth in the all-around. Justin Alberts placed seventh in the same age group vault (9.25) and placed 10th in the all-around.

The Rising Starz boys finished second as a team.

Next on the schedule, the team will travel March 5 to the Bay Area to compete at Demaray’s Winter Classic in Fremont.
