Red Sox down Angels

The Nevada City Red Sox downed the Grass Valley Angels on Saturday with a dominating 11-1 performance in four innings during Majors Division action in the Little League Tournament of Champions.

Red Sox pitchers Skyler Carpenter, Charlie Stevens and Rob Wood combined for a one-hitter – a solo home run. Outside the home run, the pitchers were perfect for four innings with no hits, walks or errors.

Wood was 2-for-3 with a single, double, 3 RBIs and two runs scored.

Carpenter was also 2-for-3 with a single, triple and 3 RBIs.

Alex Charvoz was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and Evan Kittle was 1-for-2 with a double.

Stevens added two singles in two at-bats and Cameron Townsend hit a double.

Red Sox coach Rob Wood said he thought defense was a key to the win as his team committed no errors.

The Red Sox hit the field again at 7 tonight against the Bear River Giants.
