REC BASKETBALL: Stellar Ballers live up to name, win B2 title

The Stellar Ballers won the Nevada County Adult Sports Association’s Summer (B2 Division) Basketball League Championship.The team is comprised of Joe Woodruff, Jon Brito, Kennen Morris, Eric Cabrera, Louie Costanzo and Charlie Margherita.

The Stellar Ballers proved to be just that as they went undefeated on their way to the Nevada County Adult Sports Association’s Summer (B2 Division) Basketball League Championship.

After an 8-0 regular season, the No. 1 seed Stellar Ballers then topped Toon Squad in the semifinals and beat Old School 57-46 in the B2 Championship game. Leading the Stellar Ballers was Charlie Margherita with a game-high 24 points. Eric Cabrera also had a solid game with 13 points for the Stellar Ballers. The Stellar Ballers are comprised of Margherita, Cabrera, Joe Woodruff, Jon Brito, Kennen Morris and Louie Costanzo. For Old School, Trevor Wade led the team with 13 points and Andrea Lojacomo had 11 points. Old School was the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, beating Vital Garden Supply and Tuff Gong to reach the title game.

Registration for Nevada County Adult Sports Association’s fall/winter sports is currently open.



The NCASA basketball and volleyball leagues get started the week of Oct. 16, but team registration is due by Oct. 1. The flag football league’s registration is due by Oct. 15 and games get started in November.
