PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lady Miners earn a pair of wins at Stockton tourney

The Nevada Union girls volleyball team won a pair of games Saturday at the Stockton Tournament, going 2-2 overall.

The Lady Miners, playing in a 16-team bracket at the Lodi site, beat Heritage and El Camino and lost to Escalon as well as perennial playoff team Hilmar.

The Stockton tourney featured 64 teams playing at four different sites.

Leading Nevada Union (7-15) at the tourney was sophomore Regan Heppe with 26 kills. Taylor Riley ran the offense with a team-high 36 assists and Nadia Torkman had a team-high nine aces in the tourney.

The Lady Miners finished sixth in their 16-team bracket.

Next up for NU is a Thursday home match against Sierra Foothill League foe Rocklin.
