PREP VOLLEYBALL: Forest Lake Christian soars past San Francisco Waldorf, lands in NorCal semis

The Lady Falcons continued their flight through the postseason with an upset victory in the first round of the CIF NorCal Division 6 tournament.

Forest Lake Christian’s girls volleyball team went on the road Tuesday and topped the No. 3 seeded San Francisco Waldorf Wolverines in straight sets, 25-18, 25-20, 26-24.

Leading the Lady Falcons’ attack was junior Ellie Wood with 11 kills and senior Katie Lowery with 10 kills. Senior Bella O’Neill and freshman Sadie Whaley each added six kills.

Running the offense was junior setter Mackenzie Wickstrom, who finished with 28 assists. Wickstrom was also a standout on defense with 10 digs. O’Neill led the team in digs with 12.

Providing a strong presence at the net was Lowery, who tallied eight blocks.

FLC was also solid at the service line, scoring 10 aces. Senior Raegan Tanon led all Lady Falcons with three aces.

The win advances No. 6 Forest Lake Christian (20-11) to the NorCal D6 semifinals where they will travel to face No. 2 Fall River (28-7) at 6 p.m. Saturday. Fall River, out of McArthur, topped Calistoga in straight sets to earn its spot in the semis.
