The Bear River tennis team came from behind to defeat Center last Thursday, 5-4, to move their PVL record to 6-1 on the season.

The Bruins fell behind 4-2 before winning their last three matches for the victory against a tough Center team.

Leading the way for the Bruins was freshman Sophia Christen who needed three sets to win 6-3, 5-7, 6-0 and remain undefeated on the season.

The remaining wins all came from the doubles teams which showcased the Bruin’s depth this year. The mixed doubles team of Charlie Kirks and Miranda Williams secured the win at 6-4, 7-5 in a match that saw Williams, a freshman, in her first match of her young career.

The boys No. 1 doubles team of Daniel Tantum and Ian Hayes worked hard to earn a 6-2, 6-7 and 10-5 victory, needing the third set super-tie breaker for the final score. Boys No. 2 doubles team of Brendon Le and Jacob Knox won easily at 6-0, 6-0 setting up the deciding match at No. 2 girls doubles. The Bruins sent out Josie Booth and Vanise Nunez to secure a late-evening win at 6-2, 6-4. The Bruin are in search of their ninth consecutive playoff berth with Marysville, Lindhurst and Colfax rounding out the regular season this week.
