PREP SWIMMING: Five Miners qualify for Section meet
When the waters settled after the Foothill Valley League Finals, five swimmers from Nevada Union had punched their ticket to the upcoming Sac-Joaquin Section Championships.
Boys varsity swimmers Ben Arenchild, Judah Good and Jacob Pardini along with girls team members Robin Lawless and Clara Luisetti posted good enough times either at the league meet or at some point throughout the season to move on to the Section meet.
Pardini qualified in the 200 yard freestyle event, the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke. Arenchild and Good both qualified in the 100 butterfly. Arenchild was second in the 100 butterfly at the FVL Championships, and Good was fourth. Good also had a strong showing in the 200 individual medley, placing third. Pardini was third in the 100 backstroke at the FVL meet and fifth in the 200 free.
On the girls side, Luisetti qualified for the Section Championships in the 100 free, 200 free, 500 free and 200 individual medley. Lawless qualified in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Lawless was second in the 100 butterfly at the FVL meet and third in the 100 backstroke.
Several other Miners including Sara Kellerman and Dereck Lopez put in personal best efforts at the league meet. NU’s top point earners at the FVL Championships were Arenchild and Lawless.
