PREP SOCCER: Bear River, Forest Lake Christian bounced from playoffs

The Bear River boys soccer team’s venture into the postseason was short lived as the No. 8 seeded Bruins fell to No. 1 seed Linden, 1-0, in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section D-V playoffs Thursday.

Linden netted the game’s only goal in the third minute on a chip shot over the Bruins goalie. Bear River goalie, Joey Cressa, didn’t let anything else get past him the rest of the way, notching 17 saves, but Linden held Bear River scoreless to advance through the bracket.

Bear River head coach Dan Buxton, applauded his teams efforts.

“I couldn’t be prouder of my kids,” he said.

It was the second straight year the Bruins have made the playoffs, and the only two times in school history.

In other playoff soccer action, Sacramento Country Day beat Forest Lake Christian, 6-1, in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section D-VII playoffs.
