Moving to 6-0 for the first time in the program’s history, Nevada Union’s girls golf team also scored another first for the Miners in downing Granite Bay on its home course Wednesday, 224-235.
“They’re focused,” said NU coach Hank Davidson. “They have some things in mind (for the rest of the season).”

Nevada Union was led by Emilie Arnoldi’s 41.

Bear River 3, Lincoln 0
Making quick work of the host Zebras, Bear River made its season debut in Pioneer Valley League play in dominating fashion.
The Bruins blasted Lincoln 25-12, 25-14, 25-22.
“It was awesome,” Bruin coach Matt MacDonald said. “One of our goals coming off the (Red Bluff) tournament last weekend was to mix up our offense a little more, especially early in matches.
“So tonight, it worked. Kaya (Johnson) did a great job. She had the most assists she’s had this year.”
Johnson, the team’s sophomore setter, totaled 38 assists in the win. Classmate Sara Schell led the hitting attack with 14 kills, while Katie Tomkiewicz totaled eight kills. Christie Nat, Ahlani Adamson and Kendal Nielsen each had five kills.
On the defensive side, Laura Daniels and Hannah Mosman combined for 22 digs. Dakota Andrews and Jess Mastrella combined for five aces off the bench.
The Bruins picked up their 20th win of the season, against seven losses. The team returns to its home floor at Jack McCrory Gymnasium Monday against Foothill, marking the first time Bear River has played a home match since Sept. 7.
