Prep Roundup: Roseville downs Nevada Union soccer

Roseville defeated Nevada Union’s boys soccer 3-1 Friday in a Sierra Foothill League match.

The Miners’ (3-5 overall, 0-4 league) only goal was scored by senior Ceilidh Baxter.

NU’s junior varsity team lost to Roseville 3-0.



Nevada Union’s next game is at home against Woodcreek on Wednesday.

NU girls slam Woodcreek, beat by

Granite Bay, Del Oro and Roseville

Nevada Union girls’ tennis players have had a tough time with Granite Bay, Del Oro and Roseville in recent weeks, but managed to sweep Woodcreek in Thursday matches.

Singles winners from Thursday’s matches include Jaimie Miller, Erika Kidera, Logan Kidney, Katie King, Elizabeth Peterson and O’Hara Cooper.

Doubles teams of Eva Melas and Matisse Geenty, Heather Foote and Jordon Riley, and Larissa Gilbert and Sadie Valentine also won against Woodcreek. Elana Haight and Katrin Luatner, and Taylor DeGraw and Avery Wick also won exhibition matches.

Granite Bay and Del Oro swept all matches against the Miners Sept. 21 and Sept. 23 respectively.

On Tuesday, the Miners won two of their matches against Roseville. Peterson defeated her Roseville opponent Jessica Malanco 6-3, 6-1. Also, Cooper downed Ally Weir 7-5, 6-3.
