Prep roundup: Nevada Union golf stays perfect, tops Rocklin

The Nevada Union golf team opened Sierra Foothill League play on the right foot Thursday, taking down Rocklin 194-204.

The Miners were led by Logan Lowe and Bert Heinzelman, both shooting a 35. Derek Frank was next for NU with a 38, Andrew Puleo was fourth for the Miners with 41 and Brad Carrion rounded things out with a 45.

The win keeps NU’s record unblemished at 6-0 and 1-0 in the SFL.



The Miners hit the links again Tuesday to take on last year’s state champion, Granite Bay.




Lincoln 213, Bear River 247

The Bruins had a tough time at Lincoln Hills Golf Course Thursday, falling to Lincoln by 34 strokes.

The medalist for the day was Bear River’s Jake DePasse with a 3-over-par 39. Ian Armstrong was next for the Bruins with a 46, Cody Heard shot a 47, Conner McLendon tallied a 54 and Drew Conner rounded things out with a 61.

Bear River returns to the links Tuesday when it hosts Foothill.

Forest Lake Christian 1,

Delta 0

The Lady Falcons made it two wins in a row to start the Central Valley California League, beating Delta by one.

Erica Grizzofi’s goal off a Makena Wong assist was the difference in the game as Forest Lake Christian now stands at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in league play.

Riley Ballard was impressive in the goal pitching a shutout and making six saves along the way.

The Lady Falcons hit the pitch again Tuesday when they host Woodland Christian.
