Prep Roundup: Colfax soccer nets late goal to top Nevada Union

The Nevada Union girls soccer team fell on the road to Colfax Wednesday, 2-1, losing on a direct kick in the final minutes.

The Lady Miners found themselves in the defending half for most of the first period. Colfax’s offensive pressure eventually poked a hole in the NU defense as the Falcons netted the first goal of the game.

The Lady Miners rallied and after a failed shot, dropped the ball back to junior Shelby Dilorenzo, playing stopper, who shot from 18 yards out for the score and the 1-1 tie.

Keeper Emma Curtis did a great job denying the Falcons from any more scoring. At the second half whistle the Lady Miners poured on the attack and was able to take several shots before the Falcons could regain control.

With about 13 minutes left in play the Falcons were awarded a direct kick and were able to convert for the win.
