PREP ROUNDUP: Bear River volleyball, golf both earn league wins

The Bear River girls volleyball team extended its winning streak to 15-games Monday after crushing Pioneer Valley League foe Lincoln in straight sets, 25-9, 25-16, 25-7.

Leading the Lady Bruin attack was senior outside hitter Kaely Rath with 11 kills. Rath leads the team in kills this season with 343. She has tallied 10 or more kills 12 times in her last 15 games.

Junior Ashley Albee added eight kills, and Nerissa Long chipped in four kills on a night where nine different Lady Bruins notched at least one kill.



Running the offense all evening was Savannah Wirth with 18 assists.

From the service line Bear River tallied 15 aces, including four from Brooke Hajewski and another four from Melanie Jenkins.




The victory improves Bear River to 29-3 overall and 3-0 in league play. The Lady Bruins take the court again on the road tonight at Foothill.

Bear River tops Colfax, Center

The Lady Bruins took on pair of PVL opponents Monday, facing off with both Center and Colfax at Lake of the Pines Golf Course.

With a team score of 232, Bear River (7-0) remained unbeaten this season as Colfax turned in a team score of 275 and Center totaled 313.

Hannah Prosser led Bear River on the par-35 course with a team low of 40. Kalei Owen was next for the Lady Bruins with a 43, Bella Betula shot a 48, Serenity Edwards carded a 49 and Shelby Lampson rounded out the scoring with a 42.

Next up for Bear River is a league bout with Placer Thursday.
