Prep roundup: Bear River, FLC cruise in league matches

The Bear River girls volleyball team had no trouble with Pioneer Valley League foe Lincoln Thursday night, topping the Lady Zebras in straight sets, 25-14, 25-7, 25-13.

Junior hitter Kaely Rath led the Lady Bruins with 10 kills, Ashley Albee added six kills, Lily Morgado knocked down four kills, and Alex Staples also added four kills in the win.

The victory improves Bear River to 16-10 overall and 6-2 in the PVL. The Lady Bruins will take the court again Tuesday on the road at Foothill, before closing the regular season against Placer at home.



Forest Lake Christian 3, Victory Christian 0




The Lady Falcons buzzed through Victory Christian in straight sets Thursday, beating the Lady Vikings, 25-12, 25-18, 25-23.

Leading Forest Lake Christian was Maddie Switzer with 11 kills and two blocks. Alysse Moore pitched in 10 kills and nine digs, Christin Blair added seven kills, and Emily O’Niell had a team-high 28 assists.

The win puts the Lady Falcons (13-10, 5-2 Central Valley California League) firmly in second place in the league standings with three games left in the regular season. The victory also gets head coach Travis Smith his 299th win of his coaching career. Next up for the Lady Falcons is a home match against Foresthill Tuesday.
