The Nevada Union boys basketball team earned its first victory of the young season, topping Nipomo, 59-37, in the second round of the Morro Bay Tournament Friday.
The Miners (1-1) dropped their first game of the tourney on Thursday, but rebounded nicely on Friday with a convincing win.

The Miners got a big game from junior forward Dawson Fay, who notched a team-high 24 points.
Sophomore guard Justin Gardner added eight points, and junior guard Riley Japhet-Gekas also chipped in eight points, including two 3-pointers.
