Power ratings: Four teams likely playoff bound

The Sac-Joaquin Section on Tuesday released its latest boys and girls basketball power ratings, which determine playoff qualifying at all five division levels.

The top 16 teams in each division earn a section playoff berth.

Once again, Bear River’s Lady Bruins (17-4) are the highest rated area team, standing third in Division IV. Forest Lake Christian also retained its rating from last week, holding the eighth seed in Division V. Nevada Union’s girls (13-10) moved up from 15th to 14th in Division I.

On the boys side, if the season ended today, only Forest Lake Christian would be playoff bound. The Falcons (10-10) currently hold the 12th seed in Division V. Nevada Union (11-11), which stood 16th last week in Division I, fell to 19th this week. And Bear River (11-11), last week’s 19th rated team in Division IV, dropped a spot to 20th this week.
