Amanda Benson put on a passing clinic in the Nevada Union girls volleyball team’s CIF NorCal State Championship Tournament first round win over Analy (Sabastopol) Tuesday. The sophomore, who had nine digs with no passing errors in the Lady Miners’ win over St. Marys (Stockton) in the Sac-Joaquin Section final Nov. 16, led the team with 15 digs with no errors. She also went 17-for-17 from the service line in the win.

Ali Daley was unstoppable in the Nevada Union girls volleyball teams three game win over Analy (Sebastopol) in the first round of the CIF NorCal State Tournament Tuesday. The sophomore outside hitter, who was named the Metro Conference’s player of the year this season, finished with had 13 kills, 12 digs, four stuff blocks and three aces. “We were tearing them up up front,” she said. “Especially Elena (Schmidt) with her quick (sets). And Erin (Zajac) was really smashing the ball, too.”
