Off to the slopes – Disabled athletes seek donations for annual ski trip

Next month, a group of Nevada County special education students and adults with disabilities will participate in a week-long ski trip to Donner Ski Ranch.

The annual event, sponsored by Nevada County Association for the Developmentally Disabled (NCADD), includes instruction on downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing and tubing.

Cost of the trip, per skier, is $275 for the week.

That money is directed to transportation, lodging and meals, lift tickets, rentals and incidentals.

Thirty skiers and 10 volunteers plan to attend, with hopes of receiving help with the cost from local clubs, businesses or individuals. NCADD also seeks donations of cross country skis, boots and poles.

Tax-deductible donations may be mailed to NCADD, P.O. Box 112, Grass Valley, 95945, with checks made payable to NCADD.

For more information on NCADD and the ski trip project, please call Cati Lacorazza at 274-9729.
