NUJM’s Fink runs all over Roseville, video goes viral

Nevada Union Jr. Miners (Midget Division) running back Zachary Fink ran wild Saturday at Hooper Stadium, amassing 220 rush yards and three touchdowns against the visiting Roseville Jr. Tigers. But, despite Fink’s impressive efforts, the Jr. Miners lost to the Jr. Tigers, 60-24.

One of Fink’s long touchdown runs was featured on FoxSports.com (http://www.foxsports.com/video?vid=543712835994). The Jr. Miners pulled off the “hidden ball trick” against Roseville, as NU’s quarterback rolled out like he was going to pass, but slyly slipped the ball to Fink, who was posing as a blocker on the play. Once the coast was clear Fink sprinted 58-yards for the touchdown.

Benji Taylor added a 6-yard touchdown run and was a standout on the defensive end for the Jr. Miners with four tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Also contributing defensively was Duke Morales with six tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Trevor Nielson also had six tackles.

Nevada Union quarterback Bailey Brooke completed a pair of passes in the game, both to Nielson, for a total of 27 yards.

The Jr. Miners are now 2-5 overall and 2-3 in Sierra Valley USA’s North Division.

In other youth football action, the Jr. Miners (Jr. Midget Division) won a high scoring affair with Roseville, 54-38, to improve to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the SVUSA North Division.
