NU takes down Roseville for SFL win

Led by Jonny Callas, Will Sumner, T.J. Hart and Sawyer Mosel, the Nevada Union wrestling team went down to Roseville Wednesday and came back with 53-27 victory.

After NU lost its first three matches, the Miners’ captains took over the dual meet.

Callas nailed down a first-round pin followed by Sumner pinning his opponent in 14 seconds.

Then Hart put on a show, throwing his opponent head over heels before nailing down the pin.

Mosel sealed the win for the Miners as he dominated his opponent before coming up with the pin.

Other stand outs for the Miners were Rafael Rodriguez winning by pin and Keaton Richards winning by technical fall.

“I thought that we could be good,” said NU coach Gary Sumner in an email. “But I did not realize that we were going to dominate the competition like this. Amazing.”

Coaches may submit game reports by email at or by phone at (530) 477-4232. Deadline for submission is 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5 p.m. Sunday.
