Bear River and Nevada Union kicked off the 2004 soccer season Thursday with a 4-1 win at Bear River High School.

NU broke open a 1-1 halftime score with three goals after the break. Garrett Perez scored off a corner kick from Nate Rosenbloom, Evan Helman scored on an assist by Adam Green and Wes Clay put a pass from Brian Hiller into the net for NU.

Anderson Olive scored the Miners first-half goal off an assist from Helman, which tied things up after Bear River took an early 1-0 lead.

Both the Bruins and the Miners, at both the junior varsity and varsity levels, will travel to compete in the Marysville Jamboree Saturday.
