Northern Sierra Aquatics dives in against area’s best at Junior Olympics

Over the weekend, the local Northern Sierra Aquatics swim team put their skills to the test against the area’s best at a Junior Olympic swim meet in Folsom.

When the water settled, the NSA had nine swimmers and several relay teams notch top 10 finishes. Two swimmers, Robin Lawless, 10, and Emma Lawless, 14, also advanced to the Far Westerns, which is a meet that features the best swimmers in the state. Emma Lawless, who swims unattached due to high school rules, was the 13-14 girls high point winner.

Making the finals and finishing in the top-10 in their respective individual events for Northern Sierra Aquatics was Robin Lawless, Hannah Molitor, 9, Emily Starnes, 9, Sophie Vigil, 13, Mia Axelman, 9, Emma Cutter, 12, Chelsea Herron, 10, and Tyler Natrass, 9.



Making the finals and finishing in the top-10 in relays was Robin Lawless, Molitor, Starnes, Axelman, Herron, Elle Larson, 9, Caitlyn Sullivan, 10, Feliz Mathews, 10, Riley Madigan, 11, Evie Mitsuda, 12, Kayie Oeber, 12, Cutter, Jaden Huerta, 13, Kyla Spin, 13, Elizabeth Brouwer, 13 and Vigil.

“The coaching staff was very proud of all the swimmers,” said coach Ethan Green in an email. “Almost 100 percent of the Northern Sierra swimmers swam life best times and improved their ranking at the meet.”
