Nevada County riders race up front on Cool course

The Xtreme Ouftitters Mountain Bike and the SERT/Sho-Air teams attended the 18th annual Cool Mountain Bike Race in Cool March 14, competing in 60-degree sunny weather across a very muddy course with hub-deep waters flowing through the creek crossings. 

Nevada City’s Matt Wittler, racing for the Lost Coast Cycling team, turned in a 10th-place finish in the Pro Men division. Chris Thibodeau of the Sierra Express/Sho-Air Racing Team took second place in the Expert 19-39 division, while Xtreme Outfitters’ Hyland Fisher was third in the same division.

Dan Goldsmith (SERT/Sho-Air) took third in the 40-and-over Expert division, while teammate Craig Lindberg was sidelined by a mechanical failure prior to the finish.



In the 20-29 Sport division, Maxx Hackett of Xtreme Outfitters finished fourth.

Jerome Heiberg (SERT/Sho-Air) took first place in the Sport 40-and-over division, followed by teammates David Piazzese in seventh place and Rob Heller in 10th. 




 

Paul Falvey of Xxtreme Outfitters finished fourth in the 50-and-over category of the Sport division, while John Seivert (SERT/Sho-Air) was seventh and Xtreme Outfitters’ Tom Wood was 12th.

Eric Newman, riding unattached from any team, took third place in the 40-49 Beginner division.

Rick Kalb (SERT/Sho-Air) did not finish his Expert 50-and-over Single-Speed division race due to mechanical trouble.
