Nevada City skier skis to second-place finish

At the end of a long winter of skiing, Jeanenne Richert, a 13-year old, finally saw the payoff Sunday. Richert took second place in the Tahoe League Race Program for the season.

The league is comprised of 10 ski teams in the Tahoe area, including Sugar Bowl, Squaw Valley USA, Alpine Meadows, Heavenly Valley and Northstar.

Richert, a Nevada City resident who is an eighth grader at Forest Lake Christian School took several firsts at races during the year and also chalked up several second-place finishes and a fourth-place finish in slalom, giant slalom and Super-G events.

Richert has been competing in downhill racing for seven years and competes as a member of the Sugar Bowl ski team and the USSA Far West ski team.
