NCGA Senior 4-Ball Championship

Stuart Katz and Bernie Bolter of What a Racquet GC needed overtime to claim the overall prize in the sixth annual Northern California Golf Association’s Senior Four-Ball Net Championship Tuesday at Poppy Ridge GC.

Katz and Bolter prevailed on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff with Terry Schmidt and David Butzman of Fore Players. Both teams finished regulation with a 125 total.

The Brentwood Men’s GC team of Dan Wittern and Jack Rhodes fired consecutive rounds of 63 to place third.



Lake Wildwood’s Chet Butler and Roy Coxen tied for 20th place, by shooting at two-day total of 133.

Shasta County Amateur Championship




Last weekend, on Sept. 25-26, Kirk Lyford from Lake Wildwood, successfully defended his Shasta County Amateur title at Fall River Golf Club.

With rounds of 73 and 71, Kirk outdistanced his nearest rival by eight strokes. Phil Lester of Lake Wildwood captured fifth place in the event, and Sam Hansen won the closest to the hole contest.
