NCFP: Bulldogs top Rockwell Family Dental in NCFP

In Nevada County Men’s Fast Pitch action last week, the Bulldogs knocked off Rockwell Family Dental 5-2 Thursday evening at Memorial Park in Grass Valley.

Justin Deme started on the mound for the Bulldogs and threw a complete game for the win as he allowed two runs, three hits, nine walks, hit a batter and struck out four. At the plate the Bulldogs were led by Jarrett Roenicke who slugged a three-run homer in the first inning. Chris Friedman and Alec Giron also added RBIs in the third to extend their lead to 5-0. Rockwell Family Dental answered with a pair of runs in the sixth as Vern Bridges scored on a wild pitch and Seth Reader came home on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Dan Brown.

Later that evening Eva’s All-Stars defeated A-Z Supply 8-2.

Bob Woods got the start and the win for Eva’s All-Stars as he tossed five innings and yielded two runs, four hits and struck out a batter. Offensively the damage was done in the fourth inning as Eva’s All-Stars rallied for seven runs, only two of which were earned. For the game Tyler Phillips went 2-for-3, Pete Medrano also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Josh VanMatre finished 1-for-3 with a two-run double. A-Z Supply’s Craig Fleenor finished 2-for-3 and contributed a two-run double.

On Wednesday, Gold Country Automotive squeaked by Tower’s Casino for a 3-2 victory.

Ray Saclolo earned the win as he threw a complete game and allowed two runs, just three hits, four walks and recorded a strikeout. Eric Oxenbol added a triple and later scored in the top of the first inning for Tower’s Casino. Justin Allen and Ken Dant each contributed hits as well. For Gold Country Automotive at the dish Matt Custer and Justin Nicholson each chipped in an RBI double in the fourth.

In the evening game the league’s top two teams took the field as Event Helper remained perfect on the season with an impressive 9-0 victory over the Precision Pump Dirtbags.

Will Maddux collected the win as he pitched five innings and surrendered three hits and fanned 11 batters. Daryl Allen went deep with a solo shot and Brandon Moran-Smith, Kyler Caldwell, Dave Stafford and Robby Zydonis each added two hits in the slugfest. For the Precision Pump Dirtbags, Brandon Whitlow had a double while Tyler Chew and Scottie Belser each added a single. The victory gives Event Helper a 2 ½ game lead in the standings.
