Motor Sports Report: Racing resumes at Twin Cities

Racing resumes tonight at Twin Cities Speedway in Marysville with a program that includes the Hunt Wingless Sprint Cars, Riebes Racing Series Stock Cars, Ministocks, Modifieds and Bay City Racing Association Midget Lights.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 7.

The track opened its season last Saturday night with a five-division show that saw Rio Linda’s Rick Eversult come back from a serious crash last year and drive his Hunt Magneto Wingless Sprint Car to victory in the Wingless Sprint Car main event.

Brent Dothage of Lower Lake won his heat race and the main event in the Pacific Sprint Car division. The division’s other heat winner was Doug Lippincott from Minden, Nev.

Other main event winners included Gary Holsey in the TCS Mini Stocks and Philip Shelby in the Stock Car division.

Also, the season opening California Sprint Civil War Series event will be held Saturday at Placerville Speedway.

Reno-Fernley Raceway

Grass Valley’s Brett Youngman crossed the Sierra to Fernley, Nev., last Saturday night and captured third-place in his Stock Car heat race. He also finished seventh in the main event.

Youngman also placed third in his heat in Reno-Fernley’s season opener April 22, although the main event was washed out by rain.
