Motor Sports Report: Brown shines at Placerville Speedway

Grass Valley’s Dan Brown Jr. kept his hold on first place in the driver standings at Placerville Speedway with a strong performance on Saturday.

Brown won both the first heat and the A feature pro stock race and now has 197 points on the season.

In pure stocks action Saturday, Nevada City’s Michelle McClure took sixth in Heat 2 but came up to finish sixth in the A feature as well. Mike McClure, meanwhile, snagged fifth in the second heat and eighth in the A feature. Michelle took a two-point lead on Mike in the driver standings. Michelle is in fourth with 167 points while Mike is fifth with 165.

At Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Grass Valley’s Brad Sweet placed first in Heat 1, second in the A feature and fourth in the trophy dash in 410 sprints action. Sweet is now seventh in the driver standings with 271 points.

Colfax’ Colby Wiesz took fifth in the A feature, third in the trophy dash and first in the third heat. Grass Valley’s Pat Harvey Jr. was 10th in the first heat and 11th in the C feature.

In Friday’s action in Chico, Sweet was second in the A feature and in Heat 3 in 410 sprints. Harvey was second in the C feature, 10th in the B feature and 10th in the first heat. Grass Valley’s Robert Stice was sixth in the second heat and 11th in the B feature. Stice is now 11th in driver standings.

In Friday’s wingless sprints action, Browns Valley’s Cody Myers was sixth in Heat 2, fifth in the B feature and eighth in the A feature. Grass Valley’s Jay Youngman was sixth in Heat 3, second in the B feature and 12th in the A feature.

Grass Valley’s Billy Wallace held on to first in the driver standings with a third-place finish in the third heat. He also finished 20th in the A feature.

Browns Valley’s Mason Myers was sixth in Heat 1.

Youngman is third in the standings while Cody Myers is fifth.

Marysville Raceway Park

Grass Valley’s Jeremy Burt remained on a hot streak and retained his No. 1 spot atop the driver standings in Saturday’s 360 sprints action. Burt won the second heat and placed third in the main event to remain atop the standings with 160 points.

Grass Valley’s Brett Youngman, meanwhile, finished 16th in Saturday’s main event for wingless sprints.
