Moninger captures 2006 Classic crown

Move over Greg LeMond – Scott Moninger just leap frogged ahead to claim the title of second-most Nevada City Classic wins in the 46-year history of the event.

Moninger, racing for Health Net by Maxxis, blew away the Pro 1-2 field Sunday afternoon at the Classic to win in Nevada City for the fourth time. His other wins came in 1994, 1997 and 1999. LeMond won the race three consecutive years from 1979 to 1981.
