Miners take Basketball Town crown

The Nevada County Miners, a 13-U AAU basketball team comprised of local seventh-grade players, recently won the Basketball Town summer AAU league with a 7-1 record.

The seventh grade competitive league consisted of teams from the greater Sacramento area.

Bear River Hornets take Auburn title

The Bear River Hornets, coached by Mark Allgire and Bill Chapman, managed to hold off the Auburn Wolves 62-56 to claim first place in the Auburn 14-and-under league last Saturday.

The Hornets, which went undefeated with a 10-0 record, consist of Grass Valley’s Matt Allgire, James Lucas, Bryant Chapman, Bryan Fry, Greyson Mead, Andy Parquette, Garret Smith and Ryan Wells.
